TCU Magazine Summer 24 coverThe summer 2024 edition of TCU Magazine is now live, and it dives head-first into the topic of social media.  

鈥淭CU's social media team鈥檚 national recognition 鈥 ranked No. 3 among U.S. colleges 鈥 sparks a deeper conversation.鈥疭ocial media,鈥痮nce considered frivolous self-expression,鈥痟as morphed into a powerful tool with academic applications across marketing,鈥痵trategic communication鈥痑nd even anthropology,鈥 said editor Caroline Collier. 鈥淥ur associate editor,鈥疞aura Meyn,鈥痙elves into this phenomenon in the cover story about social-technological connection,鈥痚xploring how students are leveraging social media to become entrepreneurs and perhaps future executives.鈥 

The summer issue also revisits the remarkable journey of Bob Schieffer 鈥59, honorary trustee and former news anchor, who has traded nightly broadcasts for a provocative world of oil painting.鈥 

For sports enthusiasts,鈥痶he magazine includes an illustrated feature showcasing the newest members of the Big 12 Conference and exploring their rich athletic histories,鈥痶raditions and achievements.

  • A behind-the-scenes look at Tracey Rockett鈥檚 Team Dynamics course for management majors in TCU Neeley. She invites dance professor Nina Martin to teach students about how physical presence influences leadership. 
  • A story about the Latinx curriculum guidebook developed by English professor David Col贸n and some Comparative Race & Ethnic Studies colleagues. The work intends to make Fort Worth ISD鈥檚 curriculum more inclusive and reflective of the students in the classroom. 
  • A profile on Grammy-winning soul-funk guitarist Mark Lettieri 鈥05. He鈥檚 talented to the level that the Paul Reed Smith guitar company designed custom instruments in his honor. 
  • A historical piece on the former TCU Baseball volunteer assistant coach 鈥 and Baseball Hall of Famer 鈥 Nolan Ryan.
