TCU is preparing to begin construction on two new residence halls, extending the residence life experience to the east side of campus. Following an earlier approval from the TCU Board of Trustees, the project will further enhance campus culture and the on-campus experience.
The two residence halls on the east side of campus will include a dining facility and outdoor common space for student social and study group activities and allow for additional housing options for first-year students.
鈥淭CU鈥檚 campus and housing experience is consistently ranked among the top in the nation,鈥� Kathy Cavins-Tull, vice chancellor for Student Affairs, said. 鈥淥ur housing and residence life experience is planned very intentionally with a multitude of stakeholders and in step with the needs of our students.鈥�
The halls will be located directly behind the Neeley School of Business. Utility work is underway, and visible construction is set to begin by spring of 2023 to support completion by 2025.
鈥淕iven our continued growth, it is time for us to add housing that further supports our connection culture and high student retention rates,鈥� Cavins-Tull said. 鈥淲ith each new building, we have the exciting opportunity to consider location, design and common spaces that support student connectivity, health and wellness.鈥�
The most recent residence halls completed on the TCU campus were Arnold and Richards Halls in August 2019. In fall 2022, TCU welcomed its second largest class of first-year students in the university鈥檚 history.
鈥淲e know that our student experience and on-campus culture is a key part of what makes TCU special,鈥� said Cavins-Tull. 鈥淭he fact that our first- and second-year students live on campus is part of what sets us apart, and these new living spaces will help us provide that housing and extend our residential experience.鈥�
Following the completion of utility work, closures and traffic are expected to be minimal. Parking changes impacting faculty, staff and students will be communicated via TCU email. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to show caution during construction.
